Philips approached Like People Do to design their product stand for The Arc Show 09 at Earls Court 2. Their objective was to raise their brand profile within the creative sector, position the company as the leader in innovation and new technology and increase sales of LED products.
Like People Do embarked on creating an environment which would house 25 different LED products and where visitors would interact with innovative lights, discovering their key features, advantages and creative potential.
Our composition drew inspiration from the themes of the city and creative empowerment. The walls resembled a city skyline and five ceiling–suspended, beautifully lit towers drew references from sky–scrapers. Turning the exhibition into a celebration of light, we invited the audience to use LEDs to colour their city.
Visitors were drawn into the stand by a vertical glowing interactive RGB bar that communicated with the hanging towers. By moving their hand up and down parallel to the bar, they changed its colour from blue through to red and back. The motion through the spectrum was reflected in real time onto the towers, creating a dazzling effect visible from every part of the exhibition hall.
Our second interactive post invited people to put their hands in vitrines illuminated with LEDs programmed to go through a cycle of 1000 shades of white. People saw their skin tone change according to the temperature of the light. Since the vitrines were placed on the front wall of the stand, the moving hands created a striking and mysterious sequence of gestures visible to those approaching the space.
All products on show were used to light the stand and simultaneously showcase their key features to clients. An excellent communication scheme allowed visitors to quickly access the lights that corresponded to their needs and tell the story of each product in an intriguing and efficient way.
